What roles are available?
ROLES THAT HAPPEN AT MICKLEGATE BAR
Micklegate Bar Room Stewards and Guides get involved by assisting visitors to find out about the fascinating history of this royal gateway into York. Room Stewards are based in sections of the Bar to explain the objects, history and exhibitions. Once they are confident with all areas of the Bar Room Stewards can also offer guided tours of the Bar to visiting groups. Room Stewards/Guides are also asked to give some assistance in our shop/admissions. This is an ideal role for anyone who enjoys meeting people, can provide a warm welcome to all and loves bringing history to life.

What happens if I would like to volunteer?
To ensure we offer a high level of support to all our volunteers we now offer new volunteer roles via three registration periods.
These registration periods allow potential volunteers to register their interest in joining our volunteer teams. We can then meet with any potential volunteers, discuss what options they are interested in and take up references for them.
Anyone we are able to offer a place to will then be invited to attend the welcome day for that registration period. Please note that we do not start anyone in a volunteer role until they have completed their welcome session to ensure we have offered you the best opportunity to get all the information you might need.
The 2012 registration periods will take place as follows:
January - registrations of interest open 5th December 2011 and close 15th January 2012. The 'Welcome Day' will take place on Monday 30th January 2012.
May - registrations of interest open 9th April and close 14th May 2012. Proposed date for the 'Welcome Day' - Wednesday 23rd May 2012.
November - registrations of interest open 3rd October and close 31st October 2012. Proposed date for 'Welcome Day' - Tuesday 13th November 2012.
